Sad news for fans of Michelin-starred restaurant Danny Brown Wine Bar and Kitchen. After nearly ten years at 104-02 Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills, the popular restaurant is set to close this December.

Danny Brown, owner and chef, said the restaurant couldn’t afford the new lease at the location. Although they plan on opening a new restaurant, dealing with landlords has been a struggle, he added. His well-received restaurant is known for the various European foods that Brown came across during his travels in Europe – including mostly French and Spanish influences.

He was recently featured on It’s Queens the Magazine as one of Queens’ top 5 chefs. Brown is hopeful to stay in Forest Hills, an area where he was born and raised, adding, “there is definitely something here in Queens and especially in Forest Hills.”

The last day for the restaurant will be December 31.

  1. It’s sad that he’s closing and not surprised it’s because of the rent. Metropolitan Avenue is slowly changing and although rental prices won’t grow as high as Austin Street, they are still rising. I hope he stays in Forest Hills.

I’ve eaten at Danny Brown’s several time and have always been impressed by the food, nice mix of wines and the great service. I hope that they’re able to find a new space in the Forest Hills/Rego Park area.
