Women killed by bus while crossing the street in Forest Hills

Leyla Enukasvili, a 59-year-old Queens woman was struck and killed by an MTA bus in Forest Hills this past Sunday, according to police.

The incident occurred at 7:40 a.m., at the intersection of 71st Avenue and Kessel Street. According to police, the MTA bus – which was being operated by a 52-year-old man – was traveling northbound on 71st Avenue and attempting to make a left onto Kessel Street when it struck Enukasvili who was attempted to cross Kessel Street.

The driver reportedly remained on scene to speak with police. There are no arrests at this time, however an investigation is still ongoing by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad. Enukasvili was transported to Jamaica Hospital, where she eventually died.
