District Attorneys, Court Officials, and Union Leaders to convene at Plaza College to discuss court reporter shortage in New York

The 7th Annual Court Reporter Symposium is being held at Plaza College in Forest Hills on Thursday, July 7th.
District Attorneys and state and federal court officials from Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, as well as Suffolk & Federal Court Officials, and 3-Top Court Reporter Union Leaders will gather for a series of panel discussions about the drastic shortage of Court Reporters facing New York, its legal systems, and how it can attract more individuals to pursue this six-figure salary career track.
Court Reporters, often portrayed on crime and court dramas are in real-life, the official documentarians whose job it is to transcribe most court proceedings, as well as conduct captioning for congressional and legislative sessions, within college classroom settings and for major live events such as the Super Bowl, Oscars, and Grammy’s.
Hosting the symposium is Plaza College, New York City’s only Court Reporting program and the largest in the nation. Plaza College is located at 118-33 Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills, Queens, NYC.
Celebrity attorneys Arthur Aidala and Kevin McCullogh, both frequent legal commentators will moderate the event, with industry speakers to include: Reid Goldsmith, President, NYS Court Reporters Association; Darlene Devlin, CSEA Local 330-JudiciaryVice President representing Long Island Court Reporters, Eric Allen, President of the Association of Surrogate’s and Supreme Court Reporters within the City of New York, Karen Santucci, Director of Plaza’s Court Reporting program, Pam Greco, Queens County Grand Jury Assistant Supervisor, and court officials from across New York City and Long Island. Sessions will include a Q&A with industry professionals, court officials and current students from across the five boroughs and Long Island.
