Last week, two staple Forest Hills businesses came together to showcase their brands using scenery around the Forest Hills community.

MK Vision Center, an optical store located at 107-29 71st Ave. Forest Hills, and Steps, a fashion clothing store located at 71-21 Austin St., Forest Hills. are two high end, fashion forward brands that have popular, curated social media pages.

Owned by Forest Hills Resident, Kaleena Ma, MK Vision Center is known for having an excellent optometrist, and for having the largest selection of designer frames in Forest Hills. MK carries designer frames such as Gucci, Prada, Chanel, and many more. They’ve also created their own designer brand named Mott & Bayard. MK Vision is part of the Mott Optical Group Family.

“We love collaborating with our Forest Hills neighbors,” Ma said. “From community events to collaborations like this… we look forward to teaming up with businesses and residents to show how beautiful and vibrant our community is,” she added.

Led by store manager Jason Villafane, Steps is known for being a company that carries the latest styles, and for caring about employee career development. The majority of their Forest Hills workforce is made up of aspiring models, who gain valuable experience in the fashion industry through their experience at Steps.

Shown in photos below, the campaign features Steps models wearing MK Vision designer frames at various locations around Forest Hills.

The collaboration was organized by Marketing professional, John Sanchez, who publishes the Forest Hills Times Newspaper and is also the Chief Marketing Officer at Chip New York City, one of the most popular cookie companies in all of NYC. If you were on Austin St. last week and saw a cookie truck dressed up as The Scooby Doo Mystery Machine… that was Chip NYC.

Sanchez works closely with MK Vision Center to promote their brand throughout Forest Hills and all of Queens. He met Steps Manager and photographer, Villafane, and partner James Corvino (former employee & member of the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce) one day while shooting a trivia mini series named “Forest Hills Trivia” during the summer of 2018.

The three of them kept in touch and when Sanchez proposed the collaboration, Jason and James were thrilled to join in the idea.

“Campaigns like this help the rest of Queens see how beautiful Forest Hills is,” said Villafane. “We had so much fun collaborating with MK Vision, and the team of Kaleena and John do a great job of connecting Forest Hills residents with businesses,” he added.

Below are a few collab photos, but more can be seen at MK Vision Instagram Page & at Steps Forest Hills Instagram Page.
