Man killed in hit-and-run in Forest Hills Gardens

A 29-year-old man from Tribeca was the victim of a fatal hit-and-run on Sunday evening in Forest Hills Gardens.

Niklas Ahern was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Slocum Crescent and Continental Avenue around 5:33 p.m.
The silver four-door sedan was traveling northbound on Continental Avenue at the intersection of Slocum Crescent when it struck Ahern, who was crossing from the northeast corner of Exeter Street and Continental Avenue to the southwest corner of the Slocum Crescent and Continental Avenue.

After hitting Ahern, who was thrown to the pavement, the vehicle did not stop but kept going.

Police found Ahern lying on the ground with trauma to his head and body. He was taken to Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
