ReelAbilities Film Festival returns to Forest Hills

The ReelAbilities Film Festival returns on Sunday, March 11 and Monday, March 12.
The festival, which focuses on outstanding documentary and feature films about people with disabilities and their families, kicks off on Sunday at the Central Queens Y at 10 a.m. with a documentary, Perfectly Normal for Me, about an unusual school in Queens that features a dance program for children with physical and developmental challenges.
At 1:00 p.m., the festival will feature an afternoon of short films on mental illness and other issues, including an Oscar-winning film on mental illness and art, Heaven is a Traffic Jam on the 405.
On Monday, March 12 at 12:30 p.m., the festival will screen Scaffolding, Israel’s entry for the Academy Awards for narrative films. This Israeli narrative film focuses on a young man with learning disabilities and his troubled relationship with his father.
The films will be screened on Sunday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., and on Monday, March 12 at 12:30 p.m., at the Central Queens Y, 67-09 108th Street in Forest Hills. All films are open to the general public for free, but a voluntary donation is requested.
