Local Resources Help David Associates Property Management Work Around COVID-19 Pandemic Service Obstacles

As all New Yorkers are still bracing in unprecedented times due to COVID-19, the property management industry has been forced to adapt to the many changes in normal service for the New York City real estate industry. For David Associates, a long-operating property management firm located in the Cord Meyer building on Queens Blvd., being flexible with resources amid public uncertainty gave their company a distinct advantage.

“With our office located in the heart of Forest Hills, we are just minutes away from the majority of the properties we manage,” says Cody Masino, a Middle Village native and the President of David Associates. “Keeping in proximity to the properties we manage means that we are never too far away from emergencies, capital projects, or other time-sensitive situations that require a manager to be on site quickly. This proved to be a key component in maintaining building communications and order during the COVID crisis.”

Since taking over the company which was founded in 1963 in 2013, Masino has modernized and digitized what was a historically small, family-owned and operated full-service management firm. He says he’s focused on providing clients with the personal attention that only a boutique company can offer.

“The benefits were highlighted during the COVID shutdowns as my neighboring portfolio of buildings were able to share resources at the height of, and throughout, the pandemic. These resources not only included supplies when protective equipment was scarce, but also relief staffing when employees were unable to make it to work,” said Masino. “Having a local company allowed for continuous personal service while most companies were forced to operate solely remotely.”

Masino has worked in every aspect of the real estate industry (including as a elevator operator, realtor and mortgage broker) since 1990 and has used his 15-years in property management to fine-tune how a firm should operate. David Associates provides it’s customers with dedicated 24/7 service, staff and budget management and a “detail oriented back office staff,” who Masino says is the “backbone of the company.”
