As of Monday, June 22, Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital is allowing visitors over the age of 18 at the hospital on a limited basis to visit patients. The hospital was previously closed to visitors in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
All incoming visitors must heed to the following guidelines:
- Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily in medical/surgical inpatient units and the ICU (guidelines for Maternity are different).
- Only one visitor will be permitted at the bedside per day.
- Visitors will be screened and their temperature checked prior to being allowed to visit. Visitors who do not pass the screening will not be permitted to enter the hospital (no exceptions).
- A hospital-issued mask must be worn by the visitor at all times. Visitors are not permitted to wear gloves while in the facility. Visitors who do not comply with this personal protective equipment (PPE) policy will not be allowed to remain.
- No one under the age of 18 years will be permitted to visit.
- Visitors must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer upon arrival and when leaving the patient’s room.
- Visitors must avoid physical contact, such as hugging, with the patient.
- Visitors are not permitted access to hospital pantries – please ask staff for assistance.
- Visitors are not permitted to visit with patients who are on isolation precautions, unless approved by the hospital’s medical and nursing director in advance.
- Visitors must remain in the patient’s room throughout the visit except when directed by hospital staff to leave for procedures (during which visitors are normally asked to leave the room).
