For those looking for yummy Greek food, Nick’s Bistro at 104-20 Metropolitan Avenue has definitely become a favorite of residents all across Forest Hills. Established in 2009, Nick’s Bistro has made its mark on the neighborhood and beyond.
Nick’s Bistro offers several homemade Greek favorites as appetizers including keftedes, and sheftalia which would be the Cyprian version of meatballs and sausage, respectively. The keftedes were unbelievably good as they were made with pork and diced filet mignon. If you prefer seafood, try the crab cakes served with a remoulade sauce. Other appetizers at Nick’s to look out for are the fried calamari and the portobello mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat and served with a bechamel sauce. Not pictured: the delicious pesto sauce that we thoroughly enjoyed.
If you like spicy food, be sure to have the jalapeno burger. Between the pretzel bun, the burger is comprised of pepper jack cheese, parsley, onion, pancetta, and lots and lots of jalapenos. The burger is served with a jalapeno aioli which goes great with their hand cut french fries.
This tasty lobster roll returns to Nick’s Bistro every Summer and is a popular favorite during the warmer months. However, a Nick’s lobster roll is different from your traditional New England fare. The lobster is prepared with mayo, clarified butter, bacon, shallots, and chives. To up the ante, a side of lemon potatoes rounds out the dish.
If you’ve been to Nick’s Bistro before, you’ve likely tried their Greek cannoli. If you’re in the mood to try something homemade try their delicious baklava, a greek favorite made with filo dough and honey.
Overall, Nick’s Bistro has more than proven itself to be a Forest Hills favorite! Nick’s Bistro is definitely worth your trip down 71st Avenue.
