QCH to host NYFE dance competition

This Saturday, Queens Community House will host the New York Floors Extreme (N.Y.F.E.) Dance Cypher at their Forest Hills Community Center. The competition, presented by Jaze-Art Remote, Chenzo, and The Breaks Kru, will draw participants from all over the city and the surrounding areas. It’s open to the public.
Participants will compete in breaking, house, popping and locking battles, with winners taking home $200 cash prize in each category. Judges include WaAak, Jiggz, Kid Glyde, Adesola, Stretch, Soo Missy Boogaloo, Cebo, Kim Holmes, Jaze-Art Remote and Fire Lock. DJs present include Chenzo, A1 Supreme and Jaze-Art Remote.
The NYFE Dance Center competition is expected to draw 100-200 competitors and spectators.
While admission is free, competitors must pay $15 to battle. The event will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. The top 8 will compete at 6 p.m.
Many of the local break dancers, or b-boys and girls, train at the Queens Community House’s open practices on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday nights.
The Forest Hills Community Center is located within the Queens Community House at 108-25 62nd Drive in Forest Hills.
