As part of “NYC Go Purple Day” on October 6, Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz joined members of the City Council and the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence to raise awareness of domestic violence and bring attention to free services for victims throughout the five boroughs. In her own district, Koslowitz said there were more than 2,200 cases of domestic violence last year. “Domestic violence can take the form of physical, sexual, psychological or even economic abuse,” Koslowitz said. “This kind of violence occurs all over our city among all cultures, races, and religions.”
