Queens Library President and CEO Dennis M. Walcott, Lisa Wong-Esposito, Queens Library Chief Librarian Nick Buron and North Forest Park Community Library Manager Leslie A. Dann unveil the memorial plaque for Frank D. Esposito.

On Monday, August 8, Queens Library President and CEO Dennis M. Walcott visited the North Forest Park Community Library in Forest Hills to join the community in paying tribute to Frank D. Esposito, a devoted patron of the Queens Library. Walcott honored the beloved community member with a special plaque on a bookshelf.
Esposito, who passed away in 2013, left a $50,000 bequest to the North Forest Park Library.
“Mr. Esposito loved his library, and he loved the dedicated people at North Forest Park,” Walcott said. “This plaque represents the permanency of his engagement, and his contribution to the longevity of the library.”
Esposito lived in Forest Hills since 1969. He served in the Vietnam War with distinction, and when he returned home in 1971, Esposito worked as an electrician for the New York City Board of Education.
While he worked during the day, he attended night classes at City College of New York and eventually earned his college degree four years later. The degree enabled Esposito to become a supervisor of mechanics.
When he ended his 37-year career with the Board of Education, Esposito served 1,100 schools around the city and was in charge of 300 people.
“Frank really cared about people, more than himself,” said Lisa Wong-Esposito, Esposito’s wife. “He felt like the staff at North Forest Park were part of his family, and he believed that education and knowledge are the greatest foundations in anyone’s life. What better place to give to than the library? I hope this gift encourages more people all over the city to give back to their local libraries.”
