Helping Ecuador Earthquake Victims | Where to Donate

The devastating earthquake in Ecuador on April 16 has left over 650 people dead and over 12,500 others injured. Additionally, there are more 26,000 people currently in the country’s shelters after roughly 1,500 builds were destroyed. Some locations in the Forest Hills/Rego Park/Kew Gardens are collecting items to send to those affected by the earthquake as well as the subsequent mudslides.
Here are some locations that are collecting donations for the victims:
Central Queens Y: 67-09 108th Street, Forest Hills
Brain and Body Yoga: 108-17 72nd Avenue, Forest Hills
98-01 97th Street, Rego Park
Kew Gardens Market: LIRR North Parking Lot, 82-60 Austin Street, Kew Gardens
Donations could include:
Hygiene Items – Toilet Paper, Bar Soap, Wipes, Diapers, Feminine Pads, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Towels, Bath Soap, Wet Towels
Kitchen Items – Kitchen Utensils, Cooking Pots, Plastic Plates/Cups Non-Disposable
Plastic Utensils (Spoons, Forks)
First-Aid Items
Rubbing Alcohol, Cotton, Latex Gloves, Bug Repellent, Sublock, Acetaminophen/Ibuprofen, Gauze, Bandaids, Face Masks
Food Items

You may call the local centers to find out what date they are collecting donations until. Brain and Body Yoga will be collecting until May 7.
The Kew Gardens Market will be accepting ONLY on April 30. There will be signs at the market as to where donations can be dropped off.
