It was announced this week that parts of of Forest Hills and the surrounding neighborhoods would be doused with a fresh coat of pesticides as part of the most recent citywide bug-control initiative.
The NYC Department of Health announced they would begin spraying on Tue., Aug. 19 at 8:15 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the following morning in areas along 99th Street, 67th Avenue and Austin Street in order to kill mosquitoes that could potentially carry the West Nile virus [TNW].
The DOH has advised that residents stay indoors during spraying to avoid contact with the chemicals, to turn off air conditioners in order to reduce the chance for indoor exposure, remove children’s toys and clothing from outdoors and to wash exposed skin and clothing with soap and water.
