Forest Hills is shining bright for the holidays thanks to a donation from the Forest Hills Stadium concert promoters.

A donation of $19,135 by Madison House Presents will fund holiday lights throughout Forest Hills.

Madison House Presents president Mike Luba joined Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz and Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce President Leslie Brown at the corner of Continental Avenue and Austin Street on Monday night to showcase this year’s decorations.

“We’re so thankful to the neighborhood for embracing what we’re trying to do with the stadium, and what we’ve been working on for the last five or six years,” Luba said. “The goal every year is to brighten things up more each time.

“This is an onwards and upwards project and we’ll keep doing it every year,” he added.

Last year, the Forest Hills Chamber was unable to pay for the decorations due to a lack of funding. Residents were upset that the 20-year tradition would not continue.

So Koslowitz reached out to Madison House, which donated $9,100 for the lights.

“Since they’ve been doing the concerts here, they have given back to this community many times over,” Koslowitz said. “When I call them to ask for something for the community, the answer is always yes.

“We’re very thankful to them for not just caring about themselves. but also caring about the community where the concerts are being held,” she added.

In addition to new lights on Austin Street, there are holiday lights along Metropolitan Avenue for the first time. Furthermore, there are lights along Ascan Avenue and near Restaurant Row.

Brown also said the chamber will soon launch its annual social media campaign, “Eat, Shop, Love Forest Hills,” to encourage more people to support small businesses.
