Stephanie, a Greenpoint resident and mother of three kids, was passing by during the groundbreaking ceremony.
“Mothers like me need to take care of our kids,” she said. “It is helpful to have something like this opening so close.”
Close indeed. Stephanie lives in an apartment directly above the new Lightbridge Academy location, and has fallen in love with Greenpoint during her two years living there.
However, she wishes there were more resources and opportunities for children in the densely populated neighborhood.
“I love the area,” Stephanie explained. “It’s so safe and comfortable, but it would be even nicer to have more schools.”
The Greenpoint Lightbridge Academy is scheduled to open this coming fall, but for parents like Stephanie the opportunity can’t come soon enough.
“I wish it would open next month,” she said. “I could just bring my kids downstairs, that would be great.”
After speaking to some of the officials and engineers present at the groundbreaking event, Stephanie quickly left to go pick up her kids from another preschool elsewhere in Greenpoint.
