Dear Editor,

Dispatcher Larry Penner notes that the R subway line provides extensive areas of Brooklyn and Queens with access to Manhattan ("We ‘R’ connected" - October 21).

The G line connects Brooklyn and Queens directly with each other without the delay of routing through Manhattan like the R (and F, M and N), yet such trips must rely on other lines to reach areas of Queens beyond the G's two stops in the borough at 21st Street and Court Square.

Restoring the G service that formerly extended along the E/F/M/R line to Forest Hills would reduce transfers and provide alternatives during service changes.
