I've been impressed, and I've never questioned whether or not the team was headed in the right direction.
However, when playoff conversations started to come up a few weeks ago, I have to admit that I found myself rather defensive on the subject.
The Giants started the season 1-7, and the NFC East is putrid. No matter what happens, I had a hard time believing whoever won the division should be taking bows for the accomplishment.
Fast forward to the end of Week 13. No matter what happens in 2020, I now believe the coaching staff and players of the New York Giants should feel good about where they are, and if they want to take some bows, more power to them!
Sunday, December 6, 2020, is officially the day I started looking at the New York Football Giants differently.
The Giants are no longer a team trying to win a bad division, the Giants are a team who made the biggest statement in the sport in Week 13 when the defeated the Seattle Seahawks.
The Giants were on the road taking on one of the best quarterbacks in the sport in Russell Wilson. In addition, the Giants were without their starting quarterback in Daniel Jones.
First-year head coach Joe Judge and defensive coordinator Patrick Graham were able to draw up a game plan to slow down the high-powered Wilson and did just enough on offense to stun the Seahawks.
Often, you look at an upset of this magnitude and want to believe it was a fluke. With this particular game, my response would be nonsense!
The Giants were the better team on Sunday.
It was a statement win for the franchise in so many ways. The Giants beat a team with an elite quarterback on the road and did so without their starting quarterback.
Let that sink in!
It speaks to preparation, improvement and, most of all, the drastic difference in coaching from the last few seasons.
The Giants have their head coach, I've felt this way for quite some time. Now the results are making noise around the city and the NFL.
The question moving forward is will Week 13 be the highlight of the Giants season or only the beginning of the final four weeks of the year?
